LAHORE: Maryam Nawaz, daughter of ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, said that there is a strong relationship between Pakistan’s progress and her father.
Addressing a traders convention here, Maryam Nawaz said that whenever Nawaz Sharif comes to power, he gets a country afflicted with a lot of challenges and when the country starts making progress and attaining stability, his government is sent packing.
She said that in 2013, Pakistan was facing severe electricity loadshedding crisis and business activities were suffering in the country.
“When Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was ousted the country was making progress, motorways were being constructed, China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was under way, electricity loadshedding crisis was being overcome, terrorism was being eliminated, stock market was improving and the world was lauding country’s economic progress,” Maryam added.
The former premier’s daughter, while commenting on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) public gathering in Lahore on Friday, said that people had rejected those who played politics of conspiracies.
She said that the country was changing “and now the politics of sit-ins, Panama, Iqama and conspiracies will not succeed”.
PML-N leader urged the people to come out in the support of Nawaz Sharif and for the sanctity of their vote on September 17 (NA-120 by-polls day). – APP
