KHAIRPUR NATHAN SHAH: By-elections are being held in Sindh Assembly constituency PS-76 (Khairpur Nathan Shah) on Thursday amid tight security arrangements.
According to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the polling started at 8am and will continue till 5 pm without any break.
Officials said 134 polling stations have been set up, with all declared sensitive.
The ECP is holding bye-election in PS-76 after the judgement of the Supreme Court.
The SC on Jan 6 declared the election tribunal’s decision in favour of Liaqat Ali Jatoi, a former chief minister of Sindh, who had challenged the results declaring PPP’s Parveen Aziz Junejo elected.
The apex court ordered a by-election in the constituency.
Pakistan Peoples Party candidate is a major contestant for the seat as Sindh Democratic Alliance led by Liaqat Ali Jatoi has announced to boycott the polls.
